Self Projects

When I first got into photography I posted on a message board of wedding photographers asking for advice on my website. I pretty much got torn apart. One response in particular said “ditch the walk around stuff – you look like a wanna be”. I really let that get to me and removed all of the images I had taken that weren’t wedding or portrait related. I’ve given it a lot of thought and decided ‘screw that guy’. I’m going to post images that I’m proud of. After all I’m not here to appease that guy. I want to take image that I think are fantastic and share them with everyone

So…

Baby Maddie

New Babies in the family. First up is baby Maddie with those big curious eyes…

Scott and Lisa Patriot Place Wedding Photography

The first question I asked Scott about why they were getting married at Patriot place (home to the New England Patriots for those not in the know) was if they were huge patriots fans. Surprisingly, Scott answered that they were fans but the real reason they chose Patriot Place as their wedding location was because they took a vacation here some time ago and had such a good time they had been coming back every year since. Scott and Lisa are probably the nicest people you could ever meet. They go the extra mile to let people know they care. I can say that with full confidence as they sent me a thank you package that is sitting under my tree waiting for the holidays. I’ve met a lot of great people while second shooting weddings but Scott and Lisa are the first ones to give me any sort of thank you gift when it was all said and done.

Owen Blair – Christmas Baby Photography

Mike, Jen and I have been friends for an extremely long time. Mike was my room mate for basically 4 years in college and we couldn’t have had more fun.  To be perfectly honest, when Jen asked me for some Christmas Baby Photography of Owen I was a little hesitant at first. I had never shot babies before, only weddings and adults. I had also heard some real horror stories about how hard it is working with little kids and babies. I must say though, with Owen, those stories are all FALSE! Owen couldn’t have been any more well behaved for our shoot. He was mesmerized by the camera and anything else that got within his reach.

If he isn’t in a magazine soon something is definitely wrong in this world.

Mark and Kaitlyn – Whispering Pines Wedding Photography

I’m just going to throw it out there: Any wedding where the bride wants to set you up with one of her friends and you get to ride in a boat is bound to be a good time. Mark and Kaitlyn’s wedding was at the beautiful Whispering Pines Conference Center as part of the University of Rhode Island and I got to ride in a boat. Enough said. Here are a few of my favorites from their wedding in which I was second shooting for the fabulous Molly.

Nick and Raquel – Zukas Hilltop Barn Wedding

Nick and Raquel were married at the beautiful Zukas Hilltop Barn in Spencer, MA. The wedding was originally suppose to be outside but mother nature had her way and there was absolutely a torrential down pouring the entire afternoon. Nick and Raquel didn’t let that bother them in the least bit. Spirits were high and great times were had by all. Mother nature even decided to give us a break at the perfect time to sneak outside for a few portraits. There’s a happy ending to every story!

Andy & Lindsey – Boston Engagement

Andy and Lindsey have been long time friends of mine since college so I was super excited when they asked me to take some engagement photos for them. It also helps that they live right down the street from me in East Boston. Their apartment is literally a block away from beautiful Piers park where they often spend time during the hot summer months getting away from their apartments. A clear choice as the location for their engagement photography shoot. The weather was a little uncooperative at first which made it hard to get photo’s but as the sun began to set and those golden rays shined down the wind let up and allowed us to capture some great photos. An overall killer Boston engagement photography session.

Jessy and Steve – Boston Portrait Photography

Steve and Jessy took a little bit to get comfortable in front of the camera for their portrait session but once they did their true personalities shined through. You can tell by the photos that they are the type of couple that are all smiles all the time. For the session we hit up a few parks in East Boston for some candid and set portraits before heading down to the water on Piers Park to catch a pretty amazing sunset. It got a little cold once the sun started to set but they were both troopers. I think it was worth the wait!! You wouldn’t even be able to tell that Steve had just arrived back from a bachelor party at Foxwoods a few minutes before the session ;-p
