Valerie – Boston Portrait Photography

A week or so ago I posted on Facebook that I would take portraits for free of anyone who was willing to come to me in the next few weeks that I have off between weddings. Val, an old college buddy, was the first one to take me up on that offer. We headed down to some of the parks a short distance from my house in East Boston and grabbed some portrait photographs an hour or so before sunset and continued into the night to capture some great Boston portrait shots of the city at night.

Crowne Plaza Hotel Wedding – Dan & Lindsey

Dan and Lindsey were married at the beautiful St Francis Church in Dracut, MA and had their reception at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Nashua NH. This particular day was rainy and dreary but you wouldn’t know it by Dan and Lindsey’s attitudes. They didn’t let the rain stop them at all and were more than up for anything. We even managed to take a bunch of pictures outside in the rain!

Cape Cod Family Photography – The Landons

Every year the Landons take a family vacation and this year it was to Cape Cod, MA.  As with most families the older people grow the harder it is to get everyone together for family events never mind gathering everyone for a photo session. So when my good friend and long time college roommate Matt let me know that he was coming back to town on his annual visit and he was trying to book a photographer to take some family pictures, I jumped at the chance. I couldn’t believe when I arrived at the location of the shoot. The house was HUGE and literally as close to water as you could get.

Before we get into all of the pictures, my favorite shot of the afternoon is this candid of Savannah while she waited for her Mom and Dad to settle into some portraits.

Tewksbury Country Club Wedding – Danielle & Derek

I know I’ve said this a few times already but honestly I still can’t believe it. Every time I go to a wedding it amazes how nice everyone is. I swear I hadn’t even introduced myself to Derek’s Groomsmen before they were already offering me a seat and a beer as they hung outside on this sweltering Saturday afternoon. I knew right away we’d get along. Its probably a name thing!! The whole family laughed and jeered Derek all afternoon as he prepared for his wedding. I guess it helps that his brothers had already been through this before. They are the type of family you can tell how very tight knit and loving they are the moment you step in the door.

Regatta Place Wedding: Art and Kate

Newport RI is a place that I honestly can’t say I had ever visited before I started getting into wedding photography. Living in Boston for the better part of 12 years now and the fact that Newport is only an hour and a half you would think I would have been more. Its such a beautiful area. I can’t even count how many times I’ve visited Providence but never Newport. If you’ve never been you HAVE to visit. It’s awesome!

For this wedding the groomsmen and brides maids were getting ready in the fabulous Villa One Twenty which is a boutique hotel they had rented. Per usual protocol I was with the guy as they got ready while Molly was with the ladies.

On to the photos!!!

Publick House Inn Wedding : Mark and Julie

Being a second shooter, whenever I arrive at a wedding with Molly I never know what to expect. The schedule is already planned out and the details are formalized. I’m expected to show up, meet the couple (usually the groom first) on the biggest day of their life and be ready to shove a camera directly in their face. This day was no different than any other. I arrive on location and run into Molly who is on her way into the venue – The Publick House Inn in Sturbridge, MA. We met the guys at the bar and head our separate ways. Myself with the groom and Molly with the bride.

This particular day was the first time I’ve hung out with the groom alone. Usually all the groomsmen are hanging around “preparing” for wedding (read: consuming adult beverages and torturing the groom as much as possible). This time I hung out with Mark for an hour and a half before the wedding.

Atlantic Beach Club Wedding – Meghan & Lou

Another wedding second shooting for Molly of Molly Annes Photo’s. This time we were shooting Meghan & Lou wedding on a perfect day at the Atlantic Beach Club in Newport, RI. Per usual I was with the guys in the hotel room as they got ready while Molly was with the girls. We then headed to the venue to get some group shots on the beach before the ceremony and reception.

I guess I can say from now on I know I’m going to be at a fun wedding when there is a dance party on the floor as soon as the wedding party introductions are over. There were so many incredible pictures from this wedding it was almost impossible to narrow it down for the purposes of a blog. That’s why this wedding happened a month ago and I’m just getting around to blogging it now.

Westford Inn Wedding Photography – Julie and Steve

Another weekend, another wedding. Again second shooting for Molly of  Molly Anne Photography. Molly blogged the best of the picture here.  I met Steve at his parents house in Waltham after a quick drive through tour of my alma mater, Bentley College. Its really crazy how much things can change in just a few years. I shot some photo’s of Steve and the groomsmen around Steve’s house as they prepared before heading over to the ceremony at the Westford United Methodist Church. After the ceremony we went to a wonderful location in the middle of a field to take some bridal party pictures before heading to the reception at the Westford Inn. Congrats Steve and Julie!!

Tupper Manor wedding photography

Tupper Manor Wedding Photography – Mark & Nicole

Kicking off the 2012 wedding season with my first blog post! The wedding was located at Tupper Manor in Beverly, MA. I was second shooting for the fabulous Molly of Molly Anne Photography. We shot this venue last year together so we were both fairly familiar with it at this point. They do a fantastic job there and can setup the venue in a variety of different layouts depending on what the client desires. As per normal protocol, I was with the guys in the pool room while Molly worked with the ladies as they prepared. We then came together for the first look followed by some set group and individual shots before the ceremony and reception.
